In addition to the above, the basic 9C1 V6 Sedan and Wagon is also used by Non Police Govt Departments:ĬFA (Country Fire Authority) Vic. Vic also orders Berlinas in small numbers both V8 & V6. Vic occasionally order Acclaims with FE2. SA use 9C1 pack on Executives, sometimes optioning the Country Pack Suspension (which is FE2 with higher ground clearance.) On SA Acclaims FE2 is not used. Queensland Police use 9C1 V8 Option with Commodore SS and persist on demanding availability in Executive V8. (Victoria Police also use 9C1 V8 option on Commodore SS Ute). Victoria, SA and NSW Police only use 9C1 V8 option on Commodore SS Sedan. **Holden strongly recommends against the 9C1 Executive V8 due to the mismatch of engine power and 15 x 7 rims with 225 x 60 R15 tyres. Side Airbags (NSW Police now include these as mandatory). The following features are service and state specific variations fitted on request only:Įlectric Windows (ordered on some V6 Qld Police Sedans), In doing this, the vehicle looses the Speed Alert feature.ĩC1 gets 2 horns, the standard 400hz horn plus a more powerful 450hz horn. Any VT/VX/VY Commodore can have the "Police Mode" digital speed indication feature enabled under the Speedo dial with Tech 2 at a dealership. A larger higher capacity battery with 450 CCA and 115 min RC. I think you had better brush up on your Police car knowledge mate, they run 15 x 7's not 8's.Īll 9C1 pack Commodores have the following above what is on standard Commodores: ABS, FE2 Sports Suspension, LSD, 15" x 7" rims, 225 x 60 R15 tyres, Passenger's Airbag, Sump protector plate, additional Wiring Loom (supplying power for lights siren etc.), modified Transmission Gate (can manually select 2nd gear in auto box without depressing top of gear stick), Interior Dome Light with Incorporated Map Reading lights (as per Calais), Interior Lights Isolation Switch (isolates glovebox light, boot and interior dome and map reading lights), Front brake pads are Bendix Ultimate, Rear Brake Pads are standard "Akibono" made by PBR. Look out for VY S and VX/VY SS pack commodores and BA XR6Ts for main roads/backstreets, and if theres a boozebus, make sure you see them before they see you, and turn the other way if you think your in trouble (ie possible drink driving/unroadworthy) as TMU's patrol residential streets within a km radius of the boozebus, looking for people avoiding it. ![]() TMU's also dont like working with anything smaller than a 5ltr V8, especially for freeways. When I got done for speeding the car was going in the opposite direction to mine on a small 2 lane street, and he managed to pull a quick, clean as hell u-turn without breaking a sweat. Most unmarked cars ive seen on the road have been very clean drivers, when pulling cars over they seem to know there car better than the average hoon. If a suspected cop car is tailing you, look out for things like what type of clothing they are wearing (if its a suit then theres no chance), there sex (generally a middle aged woman with a child in the front isn't a cop ) and for people who pay attention to detail on stocko ford/holden interiors notice the driverside how the dash is oval shaped, with the lower sides at the centre column and the front right pillar? Well if the dash doesn't end up going down around the pillar side, its a mobile speed camera.Īnother attention to detail would be the police lights in the front bumpers breather hole (i dunno what its called, the place where the front mount takes in all the air), and look for the etag NOT to be in front of the rearvision mirror like it normally is - as police cars have police lights in a rectangle shaped box the the rear vision mirror mounted on the back of it (so pretty much look out for whether the rearvision mirror has the single mount bar holding it up, if you cant see one, chances are its a cop). Now ask yourself, why would a car with only a driver/and or passenger in the front need a shade on the rear windshield? Generally hiding the lights on a 'T' stand. Look for an extra dark patch either side of this light, generally they are police lights.īy day on sedans, as previously mentioned some (mainly VX and VY sedans ive seen) have the kiddy shade with the little suction cups that people buy for there kids during summer. Standard on F/H unmarked wagons are the usual brake light at the top centre of the rear window glass.

Most people will have heard of Silly Putty, originally invented during World War II as a rubber replacement. ![]() It’s for this reason you need to keep your putty in it’s tin, otherwise it’ll flow away over night! Other examples of non-newtonian liquids are things like ketchup, toothpaste and blood! Every one’s seen that video of a man running over a swimming pool of custard, right? Yuck, I think I’d rather just play with putty. This is because of super special ingredients called viscoelastic agents (liquid viscous stuff + elastic stretchy stuff) that give it these amazing properties. It can float in liquid and even be torn! The scientific word for this type of material, is a ‘non-newtonian fluid’. It flows like a liquid, but bounces like a solid. Warning, scientific stuff ahead! Thinking, bouncing or silly putty, whatever you want to call it, is a bizarre material. It’s a far more mouldable material, that can be snapped, popped, bounced, stretched and torn. This huge fad has been driven by kids loving gloopy, wibbly wobbly sensory stuff, and quite frankly, there’s nothing wrong with that! So get your scientist googles on, we’re about to delve into what thinking putty is, and mix some of our own! What is thinking putty? The back of your sofa, the ceiling, every page of youtube and all over this year’s London Toy Fair. ![]() Whatever your stance, the recent explosion of slime sensory toys and the ‘make your own thinking putty’ craze has meant this stuff is everywhere. 11/26/2023 0 Comments Mechanical handbrake caliperThis is known as a handbrake turn, which is often performed in street racing and off-road rally racing to initiate rear wheel drift. It is not recommended to use the parking brake when the vehicle is in-motion, unless there is a problem with the main brakes, as this can lock the back wheels and cause a skid. The parking brake would ensure the car is secure, should another vehicle come into physical contact from behind, causing the car to jolt forward. Other common situations is when the vehicle is stopped at a traffic light, a pedestrian crossing, or simply waiting to turn in front of oncoming traffic. For example, the brake can be engaged when moving off an uphill slope, as this allows the driver to hold the accelerator and clutch pedals steady without the vehicle rolling backwards. In manual and automatic transmission vehicles, the parking brake can also be used for various driving situations which require the vehicle to be momentarily stopped. Pictograph symbols and/or lights may be used to indicate the location of a parking brake, its application or release. The mechanical nature allows the driver to apply the brake even if the main hydraulic brake system fails. Traditionally engaged by pulling a lever, the cables manually engage part of the car's braking system, usually the rear disk or drum brakes. The parking brake in most vehicles is still completely mechanical. In a manual transmission, leaving the car in first gear (or in reverse if pointing downhill) is also advised, as the engine will prevent the car from rolling if the parking brake fails. Similarly, on a downhill gradient, the front wheels should face the curb for the same reason, and the wheels should face to the right on an uncurbed road regardless of orientation. This would prevent the car from rolling into the roadway by using the curb to block the front passenger tire in the event of a parking brake failure. ![]() When parking on an uphill gradient, it is recommended that the front wheels face away from the curb. In manual transmission vehicles, the parking brake can be engaged to help keep the vehicle stationary. However, it is recommended to use it, as the parking pawl in the gearbox could fail due to stress or another vehicle striking the car, causing the car to roll. While most automatic transmission vehicles have parking brakes, it is often not engaged by American drivers when parking. The mechanism may be a hand-operated lever, a straight pull handle located near the steering column, or a foot-operated pedal located with the other pedals. In most vehicles, the parking brake operates only on the rear wheels, which have reduced traction while braking. Parking brakes often consist of a pulling mechanism attached to a cable which is connected to two wheel brakes. In road vehicles, the parking brake, also known as a handbrake or emergency brake ( e-brake), is a mechanism used to keep the vehicle securely motionless when parked. For the metalworking machine, see Box and pan brake. We look forward to working with you soon. This article is about the mechanical part. For more information, please do not hesitate to contact us. To address this issue, we have developed two different brake kits: the MPB BBK, which is designed for disc brake systems, and the MEPB BBK, which is designed for cars with electronic parking brake (EPB) systems. Although Pound would become the first American to write a favorable review of Frost's work, Frost later resented Pound's attempts to manipulate his American prosody. The founders chose it as a temporary name until they could think of something else. A rotting tooth in the king’s mouth earned him the nickname “Blue tooth.” The founders of Bluetooth SIG took the name “Bluetooth” from King Harald “Blåtand” Gormsson, a Danish king who united Denmark and Norway. It’s unusual because it doesn’t describe the technology, unlike the other wireless technologies, “radio frequency” and “infrared.” Bluetooth: Where Does the Name Come From? I’ll get into more detail on Bluetooth shortly. The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), now including over 35,000 companies, took over the specification development, managing the qualification program, and protecting the trademarks.
